Have you shot any off-the-cuff video for you business? If you have. Great! That means you have your own YouTube Channel, right? You’ve got those videos posted on your Google Places page, right?

If you haven’t done any videos, get a hand-held video recorder and start shooting today. They don’t have to be done by a pro. Just get some out there. Make them REAL. Make them interesting. Make them short. Then, upload them to YouTube. If you don’t know how to do that, there are plenty of instructions for that online if you just search around.

Get found on Google more often can happen by getting some video out there. Yes, there are other search engines like Yahoo and Bing. But Google is the 800 pound gorilla, so that’s why I just say “Google”.

There are so many small businesses out there that have never even considered doing any videos. But you need to start. Let’s say you’re a local auto repair shop. Grab a camera, hit record, and start walking out to your shop where the guys are working. Narrate it a little bit and then stop and take a shot of one of your guys (or gals) and ask them what they’re working on. Let them explain for 30 seconds and that’s your video!

Or if you’re a chiropractor that adjusts infants and children for colic…get some video of you being so gentle and caring while adjusting one of those kids. A client of mine is doing that. They’re turning out so great. Parents might not think they can have their infant or toddler adjusted for things like colic, ear infections, or bed-wetting, but this chiropractor is putting these parents at ease with quick little videos to demonstrate her caring touch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqHUBYhpXT8

The major point here is GET STARTED! I hope you have some fun with this too! Getting some video out there will help you be found online more often. It will help you get towards that first page on Google. Instead of hoping and praying that you might be found in the yellow pages, you have more control of your search engine optimization. Get some content out there. Shoot some video!

About dc

Duane Christensen likes to organize words in a more effective manner to help you win the heart of your potential new customer. Those words can do many different things when arranged just right and used for Good... never Evil. ;-) Yes, we're talking about advertising. More specifically, small business advertising. I don't like it when hard-working local businesses getting duped into buying some kind of "ad package" that has little chance of paying them any dividends. I've dedicated almost 10 years to learning how to help small businesses get more from their local advertising. And I admit - I'm a geek. I love this stuff.

i cant agree with this more. and if youre worried about the cost as a small business owner, call your local college and ask for one of their star students in videography. They work much cheaper-and more productively-than some of the high cost firms!
